We are honoring Juneteenth this year through a digital storytelling focus, as it was the oral storytelling ability of Dr. Opal Lee that catapulted Juneteenth to mainstream consciousness and its current standing as a national holiday. The masterclass will teach these same storytelling methods via film and the communal oral traditions elemental to the Black community. The masterclass will be held in the Thomas W. Cole, Sr. Library, and the documentary screening with roundtable discussion will be held in the Julius S. Scott, Sr. Chapel.
