FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Marshall, TX – Wiley University is proud to announce the launch of the Wiley University Financial Literacy and Wellness Center, made possible through the generous funding from the T.D. Jakes Foundation in partnership with Wells Fargo. Wiley is one of 16 organizations selected for this initiative, reflecting the university’s commitment to addressing historical disparities and empowering marginalized communities. The center aims to transform financial outcomes for students and community members alike, providing vital resources for economic mobility and financial wellness.
At the helm of this innovative new initiative is Dr. Jacqueline Brown, who has been appointed as Executive Director. With a deep background in financial education and community development, Dr. Brown brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. Under her leadership, the center will provide practical tools and guidance to enhance financial literacy and create pathways for long-term financial success for students, faculty, and the broader community.
The Wiley University Financial Literacy and Wellness Center is designed to equip participants with the financial knowledge necessary to navigate both personal and professional financial landscapes. Whether managing day-to-day expenses or planning for long-term financial goals, the center offers interactive learning experiences, customized financial coaching, and access to cutting-edge financial planning tools. Participants can attend workshops, schedule personalized counseling sessions with financial experts, and engage in simulations to build financial confidence and resilience.
“I am honored to serve as the inaugural Executive Director for the Financial Literacy and Wellness Center, made possible through the T.D. Jakes Foundation and Wells Fargo Foundation,” said Dr. Jacqueline Brown. “Helping individuals achieve financial success is a privilege. Our goal is to ensure students are equipped with the knowledge and tools to make informed financial decisions, both during college and beyond, setting them on a path toward financial freedom.”
In line with Wiley University’s mission of promoting social good and leadership, the Financial Literacy and Wellness Center will offer a comprehensive suite of programs and services. These include financial literacy workshops, credit-bearing coursework, finance-based internships, and a student financial ambassador program. The center is also open to the community, providing free access to financial literacy modules and resources to enhance economic empowerment across the region.
“We are incredibly excited about the launch of the Financial Literacy and Wellness Center, made possible by the generosity of the T.D. Jakes Foundation and Wells Fargo Foundation,” said Wiley University President and CEO, Dr. Herman J. Felton, Jr. “This center will be a game changer for our students and community members.
