Cap and Gown Information
All graduating students must provide their height and weight on the Application for Graduation to ensure the appropriate cap and gown size is ordered.
Only students who have been officially confirmed for graduation are eligible to receive their academic regalia.
Cap and Gown Pickup: Pickup dates, times, and payment instructions will be communicated to eligible graduates as Commencement approaches. A SignUpGenius scheduling link will be added to this page once pickup appointments become available.
Graduate Exit Survey: All graduates are required to complete the Graduate Exit Survey before receiving their cap and gown. The survey will be available during regalia pickup.

Graduate Traditions, Attire, and Regalia
Commencement is a formal academic celebration honoring the achievements of our graduates. To preserve the dignity and traditions of the ceremony, all graduates are expected to adhere to the following dress and regalia requirements.
Male Graduates
Dark suits, dark ties, black dress shoes, and dark socks are required.
Jewelry should be limited to a watch.
Hairstyles must allow the mortarboard (graduation cap) to be worn properly.
Graduation gowns must be clean and wrinkle-free.
Female Graduates
Black knee-length or tea-length dresses or suits are required. Spandex and glitter are not permitted.
Black dress shoes are required.
Small earrings, such as pearl studs, are permitted.
Hairstyles must allow the mortarboard to be worn properly.
Graduation gowns must be clean and wrinkle-free.
Academic Regalia Requirements
All graduates must wear official Wiley University academic regalia. Gowns may not be altered, embellished, or decorated.
Graduates who do not meet the attire and regalia requirements will be asked to make immediate corrections. Failure to comply may result in removal from the processional lineup and an inability to participate in the ceremony.
Graduation Cap Decorating Guidelines
Graduates may personalize their mortarboards in celebration of their achievements, provided decorations remain respectful and comply with University guidelines.
Appropriate Content: Offensive language, sayings, nicknames, images, or song lyrics are prohibited.
Flat Decorations Only: All decorations must lie flat against the cap. Raised or three-dimensional items, including flowers, stuffed animals, signs, and similar objects, are not permitted.
No Noisemakers: Bells, horns, or decorations that produce sound are prohibited.
Meaningful Messages: Graduates are encouraged to recognize or thank parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, or others who supported their academic journey.
The University reserves the right to prohibit decorations deemed inappropriate for the ceremony. Graduates whose caps do not comply may be required to wear an undecorated replacement cap.
Please Note: Graduates are responsible for their own caps. The University will not provide complimentary replacements for caps damaged during decorating.
Commencement Day Expectations and Decorum
To ensure a memorable, respectful, and safe celebration for all graduates and guests, please observe the following guidelines:
Arrival and Seating: Graduates will be seated according to their academic discipline and degree. Arrive on time to ensure placement with your designated group. Late arrivals may not be accommodated in their assigned seating areas.
Personal Belongings: Leave jackets, handbags, and valuables at home or with your guests.
Electronic Devices: Cell phones and other electronic devices must be turned off when the ceremony begins.
Prohibited Items: Food, beverages, balloons, and noisemakers are not permitted during Commencement.
Photography: Graduates are strongly discouraged from taking photographs during the ceremony. An official University photographer will capture graduates as they cross the stage. Guests should remain seated and avoid approaching the stage or entering aisles to take photographs.
Ceremony Attendance: All graduates are required to remain for the entire ceremony. Please communicate this expectation to your family and guests in advance.
Respectful Celebration: Graduates and guests are asked to limit excessive noise and remain seated as names are announced, allowing every graduate to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
